The RISE programme launched with its first call for research proposals in 2015 for work starting in spring 2016.
In March 2016, we issued our second call for proposals, with submissions for initial Expressions of Interest open from 10 March to 10 May 2016. Based on the EoIs, the RISE Directorate will select a pool of bidders to submit responses to the request for proposals (RfPs). Only those shortlisted after an EoI submission will be invited to submit a response to the RfP. Please see Information for potential bidders for further information about the research procurement process.
We expect to make a total of five to six awards, with the number of awards per call depending on the quality of the proposals and on the possibility of additional funding being secured. Applicants whose Expressions of Interest or proposals are not awarded funding in the first round are eligible for consideration for the second round of funding.
Currently, the RISE Directorate is seeking to allocate £24 million of funding directly to selected Country Research Teams, for projects expecting to run for approximately six years. RISE awards will be made in pound sterling.
